Portland Rose Festival begins this weekend!

The Portland Rose Festival is scheduled to open with the celebration events starting this Sunday, May 20th and running through June 17th, 2012. The Rose Festival is now known as one of the top 10 festivals. See the link on Travelocity: Travelocity as one of the top 10 spring fairs across the U.S. and Canada!
Pack your bags and head up to Portland, Oregon! We are not surprised about this wonderful honor! There are water & land races, rides, the Grand Floral Parade, Fleet week, fireworks and so much more. This event happens at the beautiful Willamette River at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. There is so much to do for all ages to enjoy. After the court selections, open house and the history & roses tour is completed, the next event will be the Rock “n” Roll Portland Half Marathon on May 20th.

2012 CASA/REMax Integrity Champions For Children

Hey, What’s With The Red Cape?

Date: Saturday, May 12, 2012

Time: 8:15am – Kids’ Run (10 & under free) 8:30am – 6K run/walk 9:35am – Awards

Location: Campbell Center (2nd & High St) – Eugene, Oregon

Event Description: This run/walk is a fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). CASA provides a powerful voice in court for abused and neglected children in Lane County.

Distances: This event features a 6K (3.7 miles) run or walk. Free 400 Meter Kids’ Run!

Courses: The courses are flat, fast and scenic starting at Skinner Butte Park, through Alton Baker Park, along the Willamette River bike paths. The course crosses over the Greenway (Valley River) and DeFazio bridges. Course maps will be available at packet pickup. No dogs please!

Entry Fees: $20 entry fee, includes stainless steel water bottle. Day of race entry fee is $25 (water bottles while supplies last). Kids 12 and under for 6K are FREE with registered adult. (standard entry fee if no adult registered). Free 400 meter Kids’ Run for 10 and under at 8:15 a.m (no registration needed).

What’s With The Red Cape? Add at least a $5 donation to CASA and receive a red “champion” cape to wear during your walk/run and show your inner super hero for children. Capes are walker/runner friendly in size and fabric. The cape is yours to keep, super cool, fun, unique and show support for abused and neglected kids- you’ll want to join us with capes!

Earlier this week I noticed that we have some Tulips beginning to bloom in our yard, and
I got to thinking “When is the annual Tulip Festival?” Yes, there really is a Tulip Festival
in Oregon, and it’s happening right now.

In fact, this is the 27th anniversary of the annual Tulip Fest held at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn, about a hour and a half drive north from Eugene on I-5. So here it is April already, and we all know what that means, don’t we? Of course we do! It’s Saturday Market time again! This is the 42nd season The Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from April through mid-November on the Park Blocks at 8th and Oak in downtown Eugene. The hours are 10 AM to 5 PM. On the weekend before Thanksgiving the Market moves indoors for its Holiday Market, which runs weekends through Christmas Eve at the Lane County Fairgrounds.
There are over 300 vendors each Saturday selling art, crafts, and food, along with entertainment and of course the Farmer’s Market. For more information visit the Saturday Market’s website at www.eugenesaturdaymarket.org
